Thursday (December 3) marked a sad day for the music industry as former Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland was found dead on his tour bus. While details surrounding his passing remain scarce, a statement has been released via his Instagram account.

“Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts,” the statement read. “At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott’s family be respected.”

TMZ reported that Weiland was found dead in his bus around 9 p.m. on Thursday mid-tour with his current act The Wildabouts. Despite the outlet’s claims that drugs were found on the bus, his wife Jamie debunked any sort of drug affiliation. He was 48-years-old.

Since the news surfaced, tributes from stars all around like his former STP bandmates, Dave Navarro, Alice Cooper and Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner have flooded social media platforms. Take a look below!

Just a few weeks back, Weiland called into 104.7 WIOT for one of his final radio interviews to chat about a string of topics, including his relationship with his former STP bandmates. “I wouldn’t say we’re on good terms. I wouldn’t say we’re on bad terms. I just have’t communicated with them. I wish them the best on whatever it is they do.”
